Compressor Hart Start Kits
If your compressor won't start, or started, ran, stopped and will not restart then you most likely need a compressor hard start kit.
After reviewing a number of factors, we determine that the compressor is trying to start under a load and the compressor is not equipped electrically to do that. Most of our equipment is wired for "PSC" operation which does not allow for starting under load. The most common system occurrences which we find cause the compressor to try to start under load are:
Restrictions
Line solenoids
Expansion valves
Long lines
Excessive vertical line
Short cycling
So....If you find a compressor that doesn't want to start, and the compressor checks out electrically, try a hard start kit. This will change the compressor wiring to a "CSR" configuration which will normally allow the compressor to start and operate against a load. Each manufacturer has recommended start kits for their equipment.
We carry a couple of excellent universal start kits for 1 thru 3 hp units, and for 3.5 thru 5 hp units.
