The Goodman® GSZ13 uses the environmentally friendly refrigerant R-410A and features operating sound levels that are among the best in the heating and cooling industry. This heat pump is part of a complete system which requires an indoor air handler. If you are just looking to replace your old unit with a high efficiency heat pump, then this is for you. The heat pump is designed to be used in ground-level or rooftop mount. This heat pump comes precharged and ready to install for up to 15 to 20 feet of refrigerant or R410A. If you require a longer distance from your outdoor unit to the indoor air handler, then most likely you will have to hire an EPA certified technician to handle the refrigerant.

An air conditioner is the outdoor unit that cools air and sends it to the indoor unit for circulation through your home. Indoor and outdoor units are designed to work together. When the air conditioner is properly matched with a furnace or air handler, you get maximum efficiency and longer system life. Air conditioning and cooling efficiency is measured using a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER). A higher SEER means higher energy efficiency. The latest standard for SEER is 13 (beginning January 2006).
